World Book Day 2025

For World Book Day 2025 we were asked to come to school wearing costumes that used recycled materials. 

Our theme was Paddington Bear. We had a picnic with marmalade sandwiches and we completed activities linked to the Paddington story.

Young Voices 2025

We were incredibly proud of all the of the children who participated in ‘Young Voices’ at the Co-op Live in Manchester. Young Voices offers children a chance to shine, creating lifelong memories and fostering a sense of community. We all LOVED the experiences!

Christingles

We loved making Christingles ready for our service. We know that:

• The orange represents the world
• The red ribbon symbolises the love and blood of Christ
• The sweets and dried fruit represent all of God’s creations
• The lit candle represents Jesus’s light in the world, bringing hope to people living in darkness.

Remembrance Day 2024

We have all been learning about the significance of Remembrance day in our classes. We walked to Horton Lodge to hold a special service of remembrance in conjunction with the British Legion and children from Horton Lodge. It was a really special morning.

Standon Bowers

During Year 4 children have the opportunity to visit Standon Bowers. This is a two night residential trip. Whilst there, children have the opportunity to experience a wide range of activities. These include:

Bridge building, Low ropes, Climbing wall, Caving and Archery.

The trip is a lot of fun and helps the children to develop resilience and independence.

Easter Treasure Hunt

School Council organised an Easter treasure hunt for all of the children to enjoy. They wrote to local shops and asked for donations of Easter chocolate. They then hid lots of pretend eggs in the woods. Children had to find them and exchange them for a real chocolate. School council are raising money for new playground toys. We would like to thank the shops that donated.

Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea

For Mother’s Day significant adults in the lives of the children were invited into school. Children performed a range of beautiful songs and adults were served tea and homemade cake. It was a lovely afternoon.

Hoglets

Do you know what a baby hedgehog is called? It is called a hoglet. We learnt how hedgehogs prepare for the cold. We were sad to find out that  our prickly pals are in  decline in the wild. We then become the builders of the future, creating a hedgehog friendly housing estate – using lego!
