Every school day has a Collective Worship, this involves both pupil led worship and adult led worship. We have visits from our Christian youth worker and local clergy to enrich our worship experience and broaden our learning experience within the community.
Our Collective Worship takes many forms and can include Bible readings, parables, quiet reflection and prayer time. We also have our celebratory worship on a Friday. This is an integral part of instilling our Christian Values of Love, Hope, Creativity and Curiosity. Every week we choose children who have shown our core values and celebrate their achievements with a certificate.
As a school, we have chosen to use the Windows, Mirrors, Doors concept. The windows symbol encourages all to look outwards and become increasingly aware of the world around them. The mirror symbolises self reflection, it provides an opportunity for all to examine their thoughts, feelings and beliefs. The door represents opportunities for action and transformation. It encourages individuals to take what they have learnt from their reflections and apply it in meaningful ways.

When possible we carry out Worship outdoors. This has a different feel from worship in the school building. It isn’t just ‘normal worship’ happening outside, instead it attempts to engage the pupils in a creative and reflective manner. The nature of the worship can make everyone feel more readily included. Outdoors is also the perfect setting to look at some of life’s big issues that impact both our local communities and also the wider world.
In our Early Years class, we use Oscar out of the Box to shape our worship. Through Oscar’s stories, questions, and activities, children explore faith in a fun, creative, and age-appropriate way, helping them connect with God through music, storytelling, and simple prayer.
Each worship follows the familiar pattern: Welcome, Learn, Reflect, Respond and as Oscar the Owl ‘flies’ out of the box he invites children to become involved in each part of the worship journey. Oscar provides a bird’s eye commentary on the Bible stories.
