Friday was a day of mixed emotions as our Year 4 leavers had their last day at Horton.
Their final year has certainly been a strange and different one, which is why we were so pleased to be able to welcome our Year 4s back into school for the last few weeks at school. 🌈
The last day saw lots of fun, laughter and tears as well as a visit to our forest to dig up the time capsule, which they buried at the start of Year 4 with information about themselves and their aims for the year. 🌲📝
This years leavers will always hold a special place in Mrs Montgomery's heart as they are the first year group that she has seen go all the way through school since she became Headteacher.😊
So, it is with mixed emotions that we all say farewell to our Year 4s. 😢😊 We are sad that they are leaving but happy that they are leaving with great memories and knowing that we have prepared them for the next step in their learning journey.
🌈 We wish every one of our Year 4s the very best and we very much hope that they will all keep in touch and come back to visit us. 🌈

On Thursday we held our socially distanced family picnic and leavers assembly for our Year 4s.
Everyone enjoyed a much needed social afternoon and the sun even made an appearance too! 🌥☀️
The leavers assembly was the perfect opportunity to celebrate the many successes and achievements of the children during their time at Horton. 🏅🏆
Our Year 4s have been a fantastic year group who we are incredibly proud of. Every one of them has worked hard and showed a fantastic attitude to learning. They have always been a wonderful group of friends who have had so much fun together and will be friends for many years to come.
Well done Year 4s - you are all superstars! ⭐⭐

Last week The Friends of Horton St Michael's set a 100km challenge for the children. They could walk, cycle, scoot or even hop and any km completed would be added together to reach the total.
We are incredibly proud of the children for rising to the challenge, especially as the weather wasn't great for most of the week!
Here is the final message from The Friends Team....
We just wanted to thank you all so much for embracing this challenge. You have done such a fantastic job. We have loved seeing pictures of you all and getting back our lovely school community spirit. We have a total........ 286km in one week!! And Mr Wolvers has done 149km on his own this week 😮 so we have an enormous grand total of 435km. 🎉🎉 That's just incredible. 🏆
All of our children should be very proud of themselves.
We have also raised a lot of money in the process which is very exciting for our school too. If you still want to add a bit to it, we will be leaving the Justgiving site open for one more week.
Thank you. 😁
Here are just a few of the photos we received!
