Welcome to Horton St Michael's. We are a caring creative, and forward-thinking school set in the beautiful Staffordshire countryside near to Rudyard Lake.  Our school offers children the best possible start to their education; we are driven by a desire to create an atmosphere where children are inspired to want to learn, not just for now but for the rest of their lives.

Learning,  Laughing and Playing together in God’s hands

Our aim is for children to become confident, resourceful and resilient learners, we do this by providing a safe, nurturing environment where mistakes are seen as learning opportunities and challenge is welcomed. As a C of E school we encourage the children to have high moral standards and to respect all people; irrespective of belief so that they can engage productively in the world around them. We encourage children and parents to understand that learning happens everywhere and at any time and that the world is a place for adventure and opportunity.

Maple class have been learning about World War 2. We have been focusing on the home front and for the last two weeks on evacuation in particular. The children have loved creating their own evacuee suitcases and then drawing pictures of what they would pack. We created our own tags with our 1940’s name on! We now have children named Margaret, Dorothy, Harold and Tommy. Thank you again to the parents for all of the cereal box donations!

This week we held our Harvest Festival. Usually the parents would join us to see their children perform but this year it wasn't possible but we will be emailing videos out to parents in due course. The weather was kind to us and we could hold our Harvest on the day planned and the children could sing and read their poems surrounded by sunshine and autumn colours - just perfect! 🍂🍁🥦🌽🍎🍏🧅🍇🍁🍂

Sycamore class had lots of fun in forest last week. 🌳🍂🍁 Maple class created this as an art piece and then the Sycamore children used it to play limbo and play house in! We love watching the children come up their own ideas and seeing the happy faces too 😊
