With snow in the forecast ….. a reminder of the school closure procedure

Despite adverse weather, it is the school’s policy to stay open as much as possible. If, however, the weather is so bad that getting to and from school becomes dangerous or if there is insufficient staffing to supervise teaching, then school will need to close.

Lesley Montgomery will contact other local Headteachers, bus companies and staff prior to a final decision and there is usually a decision made by 7.30am. If you hear nothing and our school is not listed as closed on the website below, then assume that school is open for business as usual.

If a decision to close the school is made, you will be contacted with a text message to your mobile phone. Other ways you can check if our school is closed include:

  • Visiting Staffordshire County Council’s website: www.staffordshire.gov.uk/schoolclosures.
  • Listening to local radio stations: Radio Stoke 94.6fm & Signal One 102.6fm who broadcast the information from the Staffordshire County Council website.

As mobile phone networks are likely to be extremely busy, we would highly recommend that you check the Staffordshire County Council website.

There is a smart phone version of the school closure list for parents on the move or without PC access.
