At Horton St Michael’s, the safety and well being of our pupils is at the heart of our work. This means we take child protection very seriously.
All staff (teachers, teaching assistants, kitchen staff, midday assistants, admin staff, the caretaker and cleaner) have completed Basic Awareness of Safeguarding Training. The most recent whole staff training took place on Friday 21st October
The safeguarding lead in school is Lesley Montgomery and the deputy safeguarding officer is Sue Martin. Our safeguarding governor is Helen Stead
All staff recruitment panels include a person who has completed Safer Recruitment in Education training.
All staff, governors (who are left alone with pupils), students and volunteers undertake a DBS check in school. DBS records are kept on the Single Central Record in the school office.
If you have any concerns or notice anything that you feel needs to be reported to someone then please speak to the headteacher. If the headteacher is not available and you have an immediate concern then please speak to the deputy safeguarding officer.
Otherwise, leave your name and contact details at the office and the headteacher will call you.
