Governors

The governing body at Horton, St Michael's has a strategic role, with the following key functions:

  • To set the aims and objectives for the school
  • To set the policies for achieving those aims and objectives
  • To set the targets for achieving those aims and objectives
  • To monitor and evaluate the progress the school is making towards achievement of its aims and objectives
  • To be a source of challenge and support to the headteacher

We have 13 governors in total, any of whom can be contacted through the school office, or via email at office@hortonstmichaels.co.uk

As well as attending at least one formal meeting of the full governing body each term, our governors sit on sub-committees which were set up to address specific areas of governance.  They also visit school on a regular basis to view things in action.
